Swimming

This has been a swimming week for Trip. We had to go out of town for some meetings and stayed in a hotel that had a pool, so we decided to take Trip. He was not impressed at first. The water was cool and he didn't like it much. We took him in the hot tub for a few minutes and moved him around in the water. He liked that a lot. After that we were able to take him back into the pool.

Daddy trying to get him interested in swimming.

Crazy hair after being in the pool!

The last few days have been pretty warm here, so Kirk got Trip a pool yesterday. He sure had fun playing in the water!

He likes to splash with his legs.

Exploring and Moving

Apparently all Trip needed in order to start army crawling was to move to Oregon. Last Monday he just started going everywhere. He hasn't yet figured out how to crawl on his hands and knees, but he can sure move! Wires, cords, tools, and anything we don't want him into have been his big motivation. We have to keep all the doors closed because he likes going into the bathroom and pulling the bolt covers off of the toilet and playing with the rugs or the garbage cans. Yuck! We're very thankful that he waited until we got here to crawl, though, because that would have made packing even harder that in already was.

He has been enjoying the sliding glass door in the living room. I had to run outside and get a few pictures of him because he was just so cute!

We got a new Swiffer the other day, which Trip thought was a wonderful toy.

He pulled this cable off of the table while he was eating breakfast and had tons of fun waving it around.

Our House!

We were amazingly blessed to get this house and for a great price. The house itself has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We are very excited to have an extra bedroom and bathroom. The property has LOTS of room and we have tons of storage in all the outbuildings.

The house and carport

The carport has an enclosed storage space that we will be using as a pantry since the kitchen and laundry rooms are very small.

The house has a nice porch on the front and one side.

Attached to the carport is a greenhouse.

Kirk has already planted tomatoes, peppers, squash, rosemary, basil, cilantro, parsley, and some marigolds to attract the insects.

This is what you see when you sit in the living room and look out the huge sliding glass door. We look out toward town and the mountains.

We're looking forward to having lots of visitors so start making your travel plans now! Once we get the inside of the house organized, I'll post more pictures.

Ten Months

I realized that Trip is almost eleven months old and I still haven't posted his ten month pictures. He is so active these days that it was tough to get any good shots. These were the best two I got!

He is now eating pretty much everything. He loves to feed himself. Pretty much the only things we can spoon feed him are yogurt and things off of our plates. If he thinks it's baby food, he won't eat it. He has six teeth, three on the top and three on the bottom. He's had his two bottom teeth for quite a while, and then all of a sudden, he had four more. He is interested in everything and wants to be into everything as well!

Moving Out

We had planned to leave Grand Junction on Monday (June 7), but had so much work that we weren't able to leave until Tuesday. Those last few days we worked non-stop and if it hadn't been for the help of some wonderful friends, I think we would still be packing and cleaning! Several people stepped up to help us pack boxes, load the truck, watch Trip, make meals, clean, and more. We cannot thank them enough!

This was Trip the morning we left.

Trip in the moving truck. He had some touch moments, but overall did very well during such a long journey.

We left Junction around noon on Tuesday. It was very slow going with a full truck pulling the van. We arrived in Boise at 2:30 in the morning, slept for a few hours, and got back on the road late morning. After another day of slow driving, we finally made it to Lakeview around 8 on Wednesday evening.

We weren't able to get into our house on Thursday, which ended up being a blessing because it gave us a day to rest. We took possession of the house on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, a group of people from the church came over and helped us unload the truck. It was amazing how fast it got unloaded considering how long it took to load. We are very thankful for our shop right now because we were able to put the boxes in there and bring them in a few at a time. There is still plenty of work to be done, but things are coming along little by little.

Memorial Day Picnic

Sorry that my posts have been few and far between lately. Once life settles down a little, the pictures should start flowing again.

Memorial Day was Kirk's last day of work. I spent the day packing. Our friends Jaime and Kelly had organized a picnic at a local park that evening, which was a nice break from the craziness at home.

With four teeth coming in and so many changes, the pacifier has been a fixture lately.
